Design Thinking and Project Based Learning with 3D Printing in the Classroom

3D printing has become an affordable medium for the classroom. In this workshop, we will look at using this new medium as an integral part of a project based, cooperative learning unit. The basics of 3D printing will be covered while all aspects of unit development and implementation will be shared. Specific areas we will explore include design for 3D printing using tablet devices, file management, the operation of three types of 3D printers, filament options, purchasing tips, curriculum design incorporating Google Classroom and Google Sites, and assessment authentic to the project.
